A Bride Finds Inspiration from Film & Fashion Icon Audrey Hepburn

Sep 20th

Audrey Hepburn once said, “I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.” We could easily change this to happy brides are the prettiest brides!

Bride Colleen came to Janice Martin Couture with a desire for a wedding gown inspired by fashion and film icon Audrey Hepburn. There may be no better inspiration than Hepburn who is arguably the most famous actress of all time! Janice worked with the bride on creating a 1950s-style short wedding gown with double petticoats under the dress to give it a full, flounce effect.

Colleen and her husband Aaron were married at the beautiful Peche Sherman Mills in Philadelphia. Colleen simply glowed in her custom gown that features a mock wrap front to accentuate her teeny waist and a double circle skirt for dramatic volume. The bride, a trained architect, had a simple but bold concept for her wedding gown from the start!

While the bride has fabulous arms, she really loved the look of wedding gowns with sleeves (we love that this trend is coming back too)! The front of the bride’s gown features lots of décolletage with a deep v-neck front. The gown is designed in silk shantung and lined in a pale blue to match the bride’s eyes.

Colleen and Aaron ended their wonderful wedding day with a midnight helicopter ride over the city! To see more amazing photographs of Colleen and Aaron’s day, take a look at this post on the Sarah Klang Photography blog.
