Grace Kelly Inspired Gown

Bride Julie wearing a contemporary full ball gown inspired by Princess Grace of Monaco.

The Bride

Like many brides, Julie grew up dreaming about her dream wedding gown. From an early age, Julie fell in love with the iconic wedding gown worn by Princess Grace of Monaco in 1956. Who better to bring her dream wedding dress to life than Janice Martin—who was commissioned in 1997 by the Philadelphia Museum of Art to restore Princess Grace’s original wedding veil.

The Gown

The contemporary ball gown was created using silk satin and hand-beaded French lace with a shirred cummerbund and a long train with lace overlay. The French lace is from the same company as that used in Kate Middleton’s gown.

The perfect Winter wedding—Julie was married in Philadelphia, PA.

My mother and I felt comfortable with Janice’s expertise and excited by her vision and we got to work right away. The beautiful lace and the luxurious satin transformed into a gorgeous dress that I couldn’t wait to wear. On my wedding day, I felt so beautiful and elegant as I walked towards my soon-to-be-husband and then danced the night away with him in my beautiful gown.
